she's got a solar-powered life,

Squirrelfang was not stressed okay? Stress was for weaker cats, cats that didn’t threaten to bite when they laughed at you, cats that spent their time worrying and fretting. Squirrelfang was not feeling stress it was just… excitement. No, misplaced energy. She could never handle being contained for too long, that explained why she wanted to run and run. To never look back, to hide under the branches, swarm up trees until she could taste the blue of the sky—Squirrelfang was just keyed up. Not stressed at all.
It wasn’t that she was nervous about having an apprentice. Don’t be ridiculous! She’d do alright as a mentor, why not. Apprentices were… easy. They were just like kits—which er, of course she’d never really been around much. Not since she was a kit, and actually kits were kind of little brats anyway. Crap. Not a good analogy.
“Okay, okay I got this!” Squirrelfang spat as she spun on her toes. She was pacing up and down the camp, seemingly intent on wearing a rut into the ground with her paws. The she-cat’s ears were flattened against her skull, her tail was bristling and she was slowly converting her nerves—NOT NERVOUS!!—into outrage. That was, of course, how she always worked. Nervousness became anger, anger became energy, energy became… er, even angrier? The she-cat looked like she was ready for a fight. “Right, totally got this. Got it, just… you know.”
“I won’t be like my mentor, that’s for sure!” Squirrelfang spat, she turned around suddenly—wondering if a Clan-mate had overheard her. There didn’t seem to be many around. Most had gone out hunting, Squirrelfang had considered going but she wasn’t in the right temper for catching and killing things with any sort of elegance. After all, it was kind of important to treat prey with respect.
Wait! There was a cat here! Locustflight! Squirrelfang narrowed her eyes, before padding over to the cat. She walked a little stiffly, but halfway over her aggressive walk she stopped short. The proud she-cat stared at him for a moment, struggling to think of what she wanted to say. She didn’t want to admit what she needed to say. Especially to any cat who wasn’t her family but…
Well, he was here. Besides, she couldn’t remember him ever laughing at her teeth. Baring her prominent fangs, the she-cat continued her walk toward him.
“Hey! Locustflight!” Squirrelfang’s tone came out angrier and more brusque than she wanted. She back-tracked, “Can I talk to you?”
